Over 1,000 new perfumes are launched globally every year, so what better time to review some of the best fragrance launches of 2024.
Our creative perfumery team will smell thousands of fragrances throughout the year. This enables them to keep up to date with the latest trends within the market. These scents range from brand-new fragrance launches to re-imagined classics and includes everything from exclusive fine fragrances to laundry and cleaning scents.
So as we rapidly approach the end of 2024, the team have reviewed some of their favourite fragrances from this year and highlighted some of their scent predictions for next year.
Without further ado, let’s take a look at some of our favourites.
Best Fragrance Launches of 2024
Fragrance of the Year Nomination: Dirty Rainbow by Borntostandout
Hina Farheen, Middle East Fragrance Project Handler
Borntostandout is the new kid on the block with its first creation launching back in 2022. The South Korean brand started out as a niche indie brand and has now launched over 30 fine fragrances, with all bold, striking and unusual concepts.
One of their most recent launches in 2024 piqued our Middle East Project Handler Hina’s interest.
Dirty Rainbow is a defiant and impactful fragrance that pulses with life, individuality and a touch of rebellion. Hina says,
“This fragrance really is a rainbow of florals (lavender, violet, orange blossom) but it is somehow twisted by green ivy, hinting at something earthy. I think unusual floral blends and earthy notes such as orchid, violet, vetiver and patchouli are looking likely to be big hitters next year. Watch this space”
Fragrance of the Year Nomination: Neroli Eclipse by Carvansons
Chosen by Graham Wakerley: Senior Perfumer
This captivating fragrance elegantly bridges the luminous and the shadowy. Created for the Middle East market, it showcases Neroli’s radiant citrus brightness layered with a complex interplay of smoky tea and dark resinous undertones.
“The duality of light and dark gives the scent an enigmatic, almost poetic quality, making it perfect for those who appreciate a nuanced and refined fragrance experience.”
Fragrance of the Year Nomination: Goddess Intense by Burberry
Chosen by Helen Ozers: UK Sales Account Manager
Helen’s choice for her fragrance of the year, Burberry Goddess Intense, reflects her love for scents that are both powerful and sweet. This fragrance has a bold and radiant profile, blending creamy vanilla, rich amber and warm woody undertones to create a composition that feels luxurious. For Helen, it’s more than just a fragrance—it’s a statement of confidence and individuality, embodying a sophisticated yet modern aesthetic.
“I love the intensity and elegance of this scent and anyone who knows me knows me I have a major sweet tooth for vanilla fragrances. I’m just hoping Santa reads the Carvansons blog and drops a bottle in my stocking.”
Fragrance of the Year Nomination: Harrods Exclusive by Widian
Chosen by Ethan Whowell: Business Analyst
My favourite fragrance of the year is Harrods Exclusive by WIDIAN; opulence and refinement in a bottle. This luxurious scent blends rich florals, warm spice, and creamy woods, creating a sophisticated and deeply captivating profile.
“For me, this fragrance feels both modern and timeless. It perfectly aligns with my love for bold yet balanced compositions. Classic fragrances have been incredibly popular of late, especially with Gen Z looking to relive nostalgia associated the the 90’s.”
Fragrance of the Year Nomination: Exotic Vanilla Flower by Carvansons
Chosen by Vicki Last: Marketing Manager
Balancing creamy vanilla with bursts of citrus, rich florals and a touch of spicy woodiness, this fragrance has been popular with quite a few people in the Carvansons office this year.
“My favourite fragrance of this year is Exotic Vanilla Flower created by our wonderful creations team. I am usually not a fan of strong overtly saccharine-sweet vanilla scents but when blended with creamy white florals this scent comes into its own. For me, this scent redefines vanilla with a modern and vibrant twist. I expect to see more non-traditional Vanilla fragrance types moving into next year.”
Fragrance of the Year Nomination: Vanilla Suede by Ariana Grande
Chosen by Amna Mackmood-Kahn: Export Business Development Executive
Ariana Grande’s Vanilla Suede earns its spot as Amna’s fragrance of the year for its effortless blend of sophistication and comfort. Launched in 2024, this creamy vanilla fragrance is elevated by soft, suede-like accords that create a luxurious and modern interpretation.
“It strikes the perfect balance between sweetness and depth, with a warm, welcoming profile. The suede note has been out of the limelight for a while now, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see more of it return in 2025.”
Shaun’s Fragrance of the Year Nomination: Passionfruit Oud by Carvansons
Chosen by Shaun Warrington: Commercial Manager
Passionfruit Oud could be Shaun’s favourite perfume of the year due to how it cleverly balances the exotic sweetness of passionfruit with the rich, smoky depth of oud.
“I love how surprising this scent is; vibrant tropical fruitiness brings an uplifting and dynamic energy, while the oud adds an air of sophistication and intrigue. Oud fragrances are always popular here at Carvansons but combining oud with different and unusual nuanced aromas is something our perfumery team are exceptional at.”
Fragrance of the Year Nomination: Le Sel d’Issey Issey Miyake for Men
Chosen by Anthony Wilcock: Fragrance Evaluator
Le Sel d’Issey by Issey Miyake for Men, launched in 2024, is an evocative and refreshing fragrance inspired by the essence of mineral-rich salt and the sea breeze. This scent opens with a bracing, crisp top that blends aquatic and aromatic notes, creating an impression of a windswept coastline. The heart develops with soft, earthy undertones of minerals, ginger and wood, evoking the rugged beauty of nature. Subtle nuances of sage and rosemary add a herbal complexity, enhancing the balance between its fresh and grounding facets.
“I think this could prove to be a very popular fine fragrance and would be great for use in other complementary products such as personal care.
Although it may initially seem a fairly generic men’s fragrance, the nuances of ginger add to a clean, aquatic profile giving it a bit of different edge that I could see working well in shower gels and washes.”
