What is a Nutty Fragrance and Why Create One?
Nuts are one of the most popular ingredients used in fragrances due to their unique aroma and versatility. The range includes almonds, pistachios, hazelnuts, walnuts, pecans and more. Each provides its own distinct flavour profile when added to a fragrance blend. Depending on which type of nut is used in a particular fragrance will determine how strong or subtle it will be within the finished product. Some nuts provide woody undertones while others may offer sweet notes that linger on the skin all day long. Different types of nuts can even be blended together for complex scents that are sure to turn heads!
Pistachio Fragrances and Finding the Right Nut
When creating your own nutty fragrance, it is important to understand the different types of nuts used in fragrances and how they will work together to create a unique scent. For example, combining almond with rosemary creates a sweet yet earthy scent while blending walnuts with lavender results in a more floral scent. Could Pistachio Fragrances create allergic reactions?
Now we won’t lie, when we saw the trend in Pistachio fragrances growing, this was one of the first thoughts that came to mind. So this all depends on the perfumery materials used to create the nutty scent. The scent of peanut butter spread on your toast in the morning belongs to a group of chemicals called pyrazines and these can be used in perfumery to give a nutty note. However, these chemicals won’t trigger an allergic reaction. For this to occur there has to be direct contact with the nut proteins.
