When we think of Bergamot fragrance here at Carvansons, it brings to mind some of the brightest and freshest fragrances and perfumes around. And although a staple in many perfumed products, it is still one people know little about. So in today’s blog, we take a look at the spicy yet fragrant aroma of Bergamot, find out what Bergamot smells like and take a look at the products that have that Bergamot zing.
Firstly, what is Bergamot?
Bergamot is a citrus fruit, native to southern Italy. Bergamot is found in teas, medicine and as an essential oil. Due to its fresh citrus scent, it is often found in a wide range of products, perfumes and formulations.
What does a Bergamot fragrance smell like?
Bergamot has a fresh citrus smell. As a result, it adds a bright and fragrant element to perfumes and colognes. Bergamot is a classic note in colognes and is one of the key elements of one of the oldest-known colognes, 4711.
4711 was created as a health drink. But, in 1810 Napoleon decreed that all compounds for medicinal use should list their ingredients publicly. The creator, Wilhelm Muelhens, did not want to disclose his secret recipe, so he began to market his miracle water solely as a fragrance instead of a medicine.
What products does Bergamot fragrance work best in?
Bergamot is thought to be good for respiratory conditions. As a result, it is regularly found as a key fragrance in candles and diffusers.
Bergamot candles can offer an aromatic experience, by lifting the senses and relaxing the mind. As a result, this bright and fragrant scent is great for creating an inviting room ambience. At Carvansons, we are seeing more and more people requesting fragrance compounds that include bergamot for the purposes of candle making.
In its essential oil form, it can aid in keeping skin youthful. By mixing it with coconut oil, it can help to promote softer skin. Several compounds in bergamot oil have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Because of this, the use of bergamot in skin care products such as soaps, creams and lotions continues to increase.
